The FMGE 2024 results are out for both sessions. Here is what the numbers show.

FMGE is conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). Every Indian citizen with a foreign medical degree must clear it before practising in India. The exam covers 19 medical subjects through 300 MCQs, with a passing score of 150 marks (50%). Most candidates do not pass on their first attempt, which makes university selection a practical concern.

Session-wise pass rates for 2024: December 2024 came in at 29.62%, up from June 2024 at 20.89%. For context, December 2023 was 20.57%, June 2023 was 10.20%, and December 2022 was 39.60%. The December sessions tend to have higher pass rates than June sessions.

At the country level, Georgia had the highest pass rate at 80.33%, followed by Iran (73.02%) and Nepal (71.43%). Russia -- the largest source country by candidate volume with over 11,000 students appearing -- recorded 29.5%. China (12%) and Ukraine (9%) were at the lower end.

This page breaks down FMGE 2024 statistics by country, lists top-performing universities, and notes institutions that achieved 100% pass rates (mostly with small cohorts). The data includes candidate volumes and the top 10 universities by pass rate with cohorts large enough to be meaningful.

Important Note About 100% Pass Rates

These universities achieved 100% pass rate with very small cohorts (1-6 students). While impressive, this may not represent consistent performance. Consider universities with larger student populations for more reliable statistics.
