FMGE Pass Rate Country Wise 2026
Compare FMGE pass rates across countries — see which country produces the most FMGE-ready graduates based on historical NBE data.
How to Read FMGE Country-Wise Data
The average FMGE pass rate across all countries is typically around 15-20%. Countries with higher average rates generally have better quality medical education aligned with Indian medical curriculum standards. However, the variation within a country can be massive — the best university in a country may have 60%+ rate while the worst has under 5%.
Focus on the "Best University" column to find standout institutions within each country. A country with a low average but one excellent university is still worth considering — you just need to get into that specific institution.
Russia and China traditionally have the most FMGE data points due to the large number of Indian students. Georgia and Kazakhstan have been improving rapidly in recent years. Always compare the most recent year's data alongside historical averages.
Why FMGE Pass Rates Vary So Widely
It surprises many families to learn that two universities in the same country — sometimes the same city — can have FMGE pass rates that differ by 40 percentage points or more. The country name on your degree is not what determines whether you clear FMGE; a handful of specific, measurable factors do. Understanding them lets you read the table above the way an admissions counsellor would.
FMGE is a one-paper screening test with a fixed 50% pass mark, covering the entire MBBS syllabus at once. It is not graded on a curve, so a "pass rate" really measures how well a university's graduates were prepared across all subjects — and how seriously each cohort treated the exam.
What actually drives a high pass rate
- Curriculum alignment. Universities whose syllabus mirrors the Indian MBBS structure (and the new NMC competency-based curriculum) prepare students for exactly what FMGE tests.
- Language of instruction. Programmes taught fully in English, with English-speaking patients during clinicals, consistently outperform those relying on local-language clinical rotations.
- Clinical exposure. Real hands-on time in teaching hospitals builds the applied knowledge FMGE's clinical questions reward.
- Student selectivity & coaching culture. Universities that admit better-prepared students and encourage early, structured FMGE coaching post higher rates — a reflection of the cohort as much as the institution.
Using This Data to Choose Your University
Treat the country table as a shortlist, not a verdict. Start from countries with healthy averages, then drill into the university-wise pass rates to find the specific institutions clearing 30–60%. A high-performing university inside an average country usually beats an average university inside a top country.
Then layer in the rest of your decision: total fees, NMC approval status, language of instruction, hospital quality and your own NEET score. Two students with the same budget can end up with very different FMGE odds purely based on which university they pick — which is why we publish the underlying data rather than a single ranking.
Finally, remember the data describes past cohorts. Your own result depends mostly on disciplined preparation from year one. Use the numbers to stack the odds in your favour, then do the work.
